This part is a new brake drum used on the front brakes on all models of the 1963-1965 Ford Falcon & Mercury Comet equipped with a V-8 engine. These drums are to be used with the 2 1/4" shoes. These are suitable replacement drums. Yes, the size is larger than the original. But the original size (10x2 1/2) has been phased out across the industry.
