1963 FORD FALCON CONVERTIBLE BUILD
BY RON WILSON
|
This picture of our 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint Convertible was taken after
we had carefully removed the quarter panel, door jamb and outer rocker
panel. The parts were removed due to a serious " T-Bone" type of
accident many, many years ago.
This is the right rear of the convertible and demonstrates that the metal underneath the damaged panels is pristine and rust free.
Here, we have welded on the N.O.S. outer rocker panel. This item was found while walking around the 2005 Fall Carlisle Swap Meet.
Another picture of the outer rocker panel demonstrates the numerous spot welds required to properly install the rocker panel.
And the welds are continued along the bottom seam. The N.O.S. Quarter Panel and a nice used Door Jamb are welded into place after careful alignment. The quarter panel was found in Hemming's Motor News and picked up on our way to 2005 Spring Carlisle.
This picture demonstrates the welding and alignment required around the convertible well area on the quarter panel. Although this is a 2 Door Sedan quarter panel, trimming it to fit the convertible was accomplished after several trial fittings. |
